Masterclass | Ursula Paludan Monberg, baroque horn

Welcome to an open masterclass in baroque horn with Ursula Paludan Monberg.
Ursula Paludan Monberg, born in Aalborg, Denmark in 1982, was immersed in classical music from an early age. After a brief encounter with the violin, she discovered her true voice through the horn – and soon after, the natural horn became her passion.
She was the first student to pursue a Bachelor's degree in natural horn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Further studies in France with Claude Maury helped shape her distinctive style and expressive approach.
From 2007 to 2013, Ursula served as principal horn of Concerto Copenhagen, making her solo debut with the ensemble in 2010. She maintains a close relationship with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, including a standout performance in Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne in 2018.
In 2012, she was appointed principal horn of The English Concert following acclaimed performances of Bach’s Mass in B minor – a piece she has since recorded to critical acclaim with Arcangelo on Hyperion.
